On Saturday February 18th, and Sunday February 19th, the members of the Morris Volunteer Fire Department Inc. participated in a Cold-Water Rescue Class. The MVFD brought in instructors from the State of CT Fire Academy to teach the class. This class helped to teach the fire and EMS personnel what to do in the event of someone falling through the ice. The class consisted of both an in class room portion and a practical portion. We utilized the state Bantam Lake boat launch on Palmer Rd for the practical portion. The MVFD tries to participate in a cold-water rescue class once a year to be able to stay up to date on the newest techniques.
